Andy the Robot is an experiment in collaborative telepresence. The goal of the project is for a user in one location, to drive Andy through another location, and experience the space as if they were there for themselves. Users near Andy will be able to see and hear the pilot through speakers and a monitor, and the pilot can see and hear the guests in the same way on their end. Andy is a modification of a Sparky Robot, but with an added layer of interactivity on his front display where users can contribute messages, images, and even fashionable bow tie designs through a web interface. What Andy expresses to his fellow peers is completely up to his users.
